Title: Chance Encounter Fandom: Indiana Jones Character: Marion Ravenwood (main), Mutt, Indiana Jones, Irina Spalko, miscellaneous Russians Rating: PG, for some language. Word Count: 500-ish. Notes: I've been playing around with this since I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I've re-written this scene from the movie in Marion's point of view. She was always my favorite of the Jones ladies, and was fun to write. I kind of want to expand this, but I need to watch the movie again to make sure I'm accurate. So until then, this piece stops where it is.

Title: Weeding Fandom: Batman the Animated Series Character: Pamela Isley Rating: G Word Count: 472 Notes: I've been re-watching Batman: The Animated Series lately, and have decided I had good taste as a kid for liking this series so much. This is a sort of re-working of a scene that occurs during Pamela Isley's first episode, Pretty Poison. You may know Pam better by her super-villain alter ego, Poison Ivy. Enjoy!

Title: Dawn Prompt: “Where the Stars Are”, which actually didn't make it into the story! Fandom: Sailor Moon Character: Makoto Kino, almost everyone else Rating: G Word Count: 924 Note: I remember reading once that Makoto’s dream was to run a cake shop, but I’ve never read any fic of her actually doing so (her love of baking is often retained, though). The cake shop here has pretty much been transformed into a general bakery, but I bet Mako makes cakes to order. Time-wise, I imagine this fits in sometime between the Galaxia wars and the establishment of Crystal Tokyo. This took me much longer to write than the others, and I've actually been working on it for a couple of days. Thus ends the run of seven stories featuring Makoto, which originally began as a project for the now-defunct sevencrystals community.

Title: Bigger on the Inside Fandom: Doctor Who Character: Mickey Smith Rating: PG Word Count: 964 Notes: ‘Cause I really am fond of Mickey, and I don’t think he’s appreciated enough. Um, lots of spoilers through the “Age of Steel” episode in season 2. This took about an hour and a half to write and edit.

Fandom: Sailor Moon Character: Makoto Kino Prompt: “Dirty little secret” Rating: G Word Count: 310 Notes: Sweet Lion of Zion! Two fics in four days! It's some sort of record. Oh, the story. Um. Mako-chan needs some serious counseling. Apparently I'm in the Angst!zone as of late.

Fandom: Sailor Moon Character: Sailor Jupiter Prompt: "Lights, Camera, Action" Rating: PG-13. I got a little crazy with the gore, and there's a naughty word. Notes: My first real action fic in an extremely long time. This took an hour, and probably needs to be proof-read. That said, I'm pretty happy with it.

Fandom: Sailor Moon Character: Makoto Kino, Usagi Tsukino Prompt: "Bloom" Rating: G Word Count: 295 Notes: All info about the deaths of Makoto's parents comes from online sources, as I couldn't be induced to go through a bunch of volumes of the manga to find out if the claims made at various websites were true. (Okay, so I paged through volume 1, figuring that Takeuchi would have put that info in Jupiter's introduction issue, but no dice.) I also don't remember if the origin of the earrings was ever explained in any version of Sailor Moon, but if it has I'm re-inventing it here.
Also, I'm not entirely happy with this, but I wrote it in 15 minutes, so there you go.

Fandom: Full Metal Alchemist Character: Winry Prompt: "A simple drop of water" Rating: PG Word Count: 480 Notes: Ed/Winry adorableness. I luff them.
This was actually going to be part of a much longer fic that I never quite worked up the enthusiasm to pull together. It has been stopped here for a while, and I forgot about it for several weeks. And I just re-discovered it and decided it worked okay on its own in that of course Ed gets something thrown at him by Winry. Enjoy.

Fandom: Xena, Warrior Princess Title: Skeletons and Closets Character(s): Gabrielle main, Xena, Rating: PG Word Count: 511 Author's Notes: So, this is my first ever Xenafic. Basically, it came about because I can't sleep, and I just watched my Netflixed DVD of season 6 earlier this evening. The events in this story take place just after the season 6 episode "Legacy", and contains major series spoilers up to that point. In other news, this is basically just a rough character study ficlet, which I may or may not polish up but I felt good enough about it to post it here.

Written for: 7crystals Title: Lapidary Character(s): Kino Makoto Rating: G Prompt: "Heart of Stone" Word Count: 625 Author's Notes: It's been a reeeeally long time since I've seen the anime, but I remember enough to know that Makoto learned some karate up in the mountains. I don't remember anything about her teacher as a character, so I let my imagination do the work. This takes place before Makoto meets Usagi et. al., and before she discovers she's Sailor Jupiter. A lot of hints are dropped about Makoto's past in every BSSM storyline, and it's very clear that her heart was broken, and she had a rough patch where she got in a lot of fights - it's stated that she was expelled from her old school for fighting. I thought it would be interesting to examine the interem between her old school (and old life) and her new school, and I thought she would need someone to give her a little encouragement on the way.

Fandom: Sailor Moon Character: Setsuna Phrase: "there's a place in the dark where the animals go" Rated: G, more or less. Warning: Character Death. Set during the Sailor Stars arc of the BSSM Manga. About 45 minutes of writing time.
Oh, Anne, you do know how to tickle a girl! Seriously, Setsuna/Pluto was my first serious anime fancrush. And, though I still love her to pieces, I have been out of Sailor Moonverse for such a long time that this was pretty difficult to write. Setsuna's head is not the easiest to pry in to (which is probably why I love her so much), and I think one of the most interesting aspects of her character is her relationship with Mamoru. I don't think I got the time of year quite right for this fic, nor, if I'm thinking about it now, does it make sense for Usagi to find out what she did when she did in this fic (manga or anime continuity). Oh, well.

Fandom: Buffyverse Character: Spike Prompt: "Nipples are honest." Rated: PG-13ish just to be safe? Some mild sexual content and disturbing imagery.
Okay, I admit that I did have some trouble with this one. I thought about it off and on all day, and started a story where Spike was sitting at Willy the Snitch's bar and they strike up a conversation about the woes of being involved with women. Halfway through, I knew it wasn't working and I scrapped it. A halfway conceived idea about a conversation between Spike and Willow never made it to paper. This ficlet was started out of the air, as far as I can tell, but just because I had a quick thought that that nipple thing may be something Dru would say (and ended up not saying...). Anyway, I worked for about 45 minutes on it (instead of the initially promised 30), because I had a hard time wrapping it up. Still not completely satisfied with the ending.
( Set during Buffy's second season )

Okay, here's the deal. I'm trying to practice a more succinct style, and that means short ficlets. I don't usually (ever) write those, and starting points are hard for me to come up with cold. So, here's what you can do for me, if you so choose:
- choose a fandom (some of the ones I'm familiar with are in the "favorites" in my profile, or you can choose something you know I'm familiar with).
- choose a character(s) within that fandom that you'd like the story to be about.
- choose a phrase, any phrase. It'll hopefully get the creative juices flowing in the right direction, and it will be encorporated into the story.
My time limit? 30 minutes. And I get to decide the rating.
Aaaand... GO!

Hi. Okay, so this is the obligatory first entry. I already have a livejournal, meiousei, in which I don't post daily, or usually even weekly.
The default icon for this sucker ended up being the mercurial, disturbing, and fascinating character Steerpike, of Mervyn Peake's wonderful novel Gormenghast. It was made into a not-half-bad BBC movie a few years ago, in which Jonathan Rhys-Meyers played the character of that name.
I'm not quite sure what to talk about, so I'll stop writing now. But new content will be coming soon! (Maybe. Hopefully.)
